Strong Indian foundations. Competency for a changing world.
The CBSE pathway at L’école Chempaka Kochi combines strong foundational learning with competency-based, experiential and multidisciplinary learning. Learners build secure literacy, numeracy and environmental understanding while growing in confidence, curiosity, communication and independence.
A strong foundation for learners growing into a changing world.
At L’école Chempaka Kochi, the proposed CBSE pathway brings together the expectations of the CBSE and NCERT framework with the Chempaka ONE personalised elementary model.
Learners develop secure foundations while learning to apply ideas, explain their thinking, create, investigate and work with others.
CBSE learning, shaped by the Chempaka Way.
The CBSE pathway is designed as part of the wider Chempaka learning culture. Learners benefit from a values-led environment that places importance on wellbeing, arts, sport, research, communication and personal growth.
The academic pathway remains clearly CBSE, while the wider school experience is strengthened by the shared principles of Chempaka ONE.
Grades 1 to 5. One purposeful elementary experience.
The proposed CBSE pathway covers Grades 1 to 5, giving children a complete primary-school experience built around strong foundations, application, curiosity and visible progress.
Build the foundations
Reading, language, handwriting and written expression, number fluency and mathematical reasoning are developed through purposeful daily learning.
Understand and apply
Learners demonstrate understanding through explanation, application, performance and creation rather than relying on recall alone.
Grow with confidence
As learners progress through primary school, they develop communication, independence, collaboration, reflection and a growing sense of responsibility.
Current proposed scope: The CBSE pathway at LCI Kochi is proposed for Grades 1 to 5. No CBSE grade beyond Grade 5 is included in the present offering.
Six principles shape the CBSE experience.
The pathway combines strong academic foundations with experiences that help children connect learning to the world around them.
Foundational Learning
Daily reading, language, handwriting and written expression, number fluency and mathematical reasoning create secure foundations for future learning.
Competency-Based Learning
Learners demonstrate understanding through application, explanation, performance and creation, not recall alone.
Experiential Learning
Manipulatives, experiments, local context, field learning, projects and real-life problem-solving connect concepts with experience.
Multilingual Confidence
English-medium learning is supported by respectful and purposeful development of approved Indian languages.
Art and Movement
Visual and performing arts, play, physical education and wellbeing contribute to the wider development of the learner.
Indian and Global Perspective
Learners develop an understanding of local identity, citizenship and culture alongside wider awareness and respectful comparison.
Knowledge matters. So does what a learner can do with it.
A competency-based approach gives learners opportunities to demonstrate what they understand through application, explanation, performance and creation.
When learning moves beyond the page, understanding becomes meaningful.
Experiential learning connects concepts with the world children can observe, explore and influence. The proposed CBSE experience uses practical and multidisciplinary opportunities to make learning active and relevant.
From experiments and projects to local context, field learning and real-life problem-solving, learners are encouraged to investigate rather than simply receive.
Experiments
Observe, test, question and draw conclusions through practical experiences.
Projects
Connect ideas across subjects through purposeful projects and creation.
Local Context
Use familiar places, communities and experiences as meaningful learning contexts.
Real-Life Problems
Apply knowledge and reasoning to situations that require practical thinking.
Strong academics need a wider foundation.
The CBSE pathway brings academic learning together with language, creativity, movement, culture and wider awareness.
Language & Communication
English-medium learning is supported by purposeful development of approved Indian languages, helping learners communicate with confidence and respect different linguistic contexts.
Art, Movement & Wellbeing
Visual and performing arts, play, physical education and wellbeing are part of the wider elementary experience.
Indian & Global Perspective
Learners develop a connection with local identity, citizenship and culture while growing their awareness of the wider world.
Every child known. Every next step purposeful.
Personalised learning within a clear pathway.
Personalised learning at LCI Kochi means teachers use clear curriculum expectations and multiple forms of evidence to adjust support, challenge, pace and learning experience according to each learner's readiness and needs.
It does not mean a separate curriculum for every child. Learners work towards the standards of their chosen pathway while the route, support and extension respond to individual needs.
Assessment that makes progress visible.
Assessment in the proposed CBSE pathway is continuous, age-appropriate and competency-focused. Different forms of evidence help teachers understand progress and plan the next stage of learning.
Reporting should give families a meaningful picture of learning, progress and next steps, following the current CBSE and NCERT framework applicable to the relevant stage, including the approved Holistic Progress Card format where required.
One Chempaka experience. A clearly defined CBSE pathway.
Learners in the CBSE pathway are part of the wider Chempaka culture, sharing selected experiences that support wellbeing, creativity, communication and whole-child development.

Wellbeing
Emotional, physical and social wellbeing remain part of the wider learning experience.
Arts & Sport
Creativity, movement and participation broaden the elementary experience.
Communication
Learners are encouraged to express ideas, collaborate and communicate with confidence.
